A young writing prodigy finds a mentor in a reclusive author. Because of scoring exceptionally high on a statewide standardized exam, and being an exceptionally good basketball player, Jamal Wallace is sent to a prestigious prep school in Manhattan. He soon befriends the reclusive writer, William Forrester. Jamal was unaware of this when he turned in the paper, but he had also promised to keep his relationship with William a secret. Jamal and Forrester begin working together on writing lessons, which are so outstanding that Jamal was not the only one who learned a thing or two. I did, too.
